Black Orpheus Speaker Cable is manufactured by Acarian Systems to provide optimum performance with Alón loudspeakers. Black Orpheus is different. It looks different and it sounds different. The goal was to provide a neutral cable which complements the neutral sound of Alón loudspeakers. This requirement along with other special requirements of Alón loudspeakers meant that the cable had to be constructed in a different way from other cables. First, the cables employ an extremely thin layer of plastic insulation. This is necessary in order to avoid sonic degradation due to dielectric losses. Second, the cables are discrete and are not housed in a compromising common jacket. Instead each wire has its own independent jacket. This construction provides virtually zero capacitance between conductors and allows the use of long runs (greater than 50 feet) without sonic degradation.
The low-frequency cable is a coaxial design with solid core oxygen-free silver clad copper conductors. The mid-high frequency cable is a uni-axial design with a mixture of multistrand oxygen-free copper and silver-clad oxygen-free copper in the same bundle. Black Orpheus cables are pre-terminated in gold plated spade lugs for ease of application. Effective gauge is 13 a.w.g.
